The Outcrop of a well-known Chinese loess-paleosol sequence of the last 1.34 Ma with a thickness of ~85 m was exposed by Louzigou Tunnel highway construction in Tongchuan, a city near Xi’an, China. Brown-reddish and yellow-greyish layers in the photo show buried paleosols and eolian loess, respectively. The interbedded loess/paleosol layers indicate the alternating dominance of the East Asian winter and summer monsoons.
